Many of their products still have UX challenges. Microsoft didn’t win because their products had the best UX. They won through early positioning, distribution deals, enterprise lock-in, bundling, and developer ecosystem effects. Once they had dominant market share, the switching costs kept users locked in, even if UX lagged behind competitors. It lacks edge.
