In 2025 alone, 318 million downloads. That’s almost 3x more than 2024. In India, I’ve seen college students using ChatGPT to pass exams, shopkeepers asking it to write WhatsApp forwards, and startup founders using it to pitch investors. For most people, ChatGPT isn’t “one of the AIs.” It is AI. That’s the brutal truth: outside the tech bubble, no one cares about Claude, Grok, or Anthropic. In India and globally, AI = ChatGPT. If someone wants to beat them, they need more than a “better model.” They have to break a cultural lock-in. That’s 100x harder than just building tech.
