Parag Agrawal, former CEO of Twitter, has launched a new AI startup called Parallel Web Systems. The company has raised $30 million in funding from leading Silicon Valley investors including Khosla Ventures, Index Ventures, and First Round Capital. The startup focuses on developing AI agents that can autonomously gather, verify, and organize data from the internet. Its goal is to create AI systems that perform real-world tasks more efficiently than models like GPT-5. Parallel offers multiple research engines; the most advanced one, called Ultra8x, has shown over 10% higher accuracy compared to GPT-5 on benchmarks like BrowseComp and DeepResearch Bench. The platform provides citation-first web research, confidence scoring, and structured data outputs through APIs. Already processing millions of research tasks daily, it is being used by startups and AI companies for coding help, retail analytics, and market research. Agrawal started this venture less than three years after being ousted by Elon Musk from Twitter.
