Yesterday, I got a call from an unknown number. The moment I said “Hello,” the voice on the other end said, “Mujhe job chahiye.” I asked, “Konsi job chahiye?” And he replied, “Aapke paas konsi hai?” I actually rolled my eyes 🙄. I explained, “Esa thodi hota hai ki mere paas jo bhi jobs hain main bata doon… aapko apna area of expertise batana padega na.” Before I could finish my sentence, the call got cut. I was trying to help him, so that the *next* time he called someone, he could communicate his skills clearly. But it seems he wasn’t in the mood for “free ka gyaan” 🥲. Here’s the thing: Whether it’s applying for a job, pitching to a client, or asking for help, clarity is everything. If you don’t know how to position yourself, the person on the other side won’t know how to help you. When you’re reaching out: * Introduce yourself. * Be specific about what you want. * Share your skills or expertise upfront. Because in the real world, “Aapke paas kya hai?” doesn’t work as well as “Mere paas yeh skills hain, kya aapke paas koi role hai jo fit ho?”
