What is the lesson we can learn from all the tantrums from Trump. Export market is good as long as the relations between the country are good. Irrespective of how good a product or service can be , if the relations go to drain, business ops do affect . So, what now?? With export market dicey , does that mean no more businesses. Definitely not. Export market gives us advantage for high prices (and so high margins) & some currency exchange advantage . India is a land of billion people out of which a fraction can afford everything they come across. Another fraction is aspirational and surely price sensitive . A bigger chunk of people are just price sensitive. Any product which is affordable can make it's way through a larger section of people and a volume play is possible . Yes, the creativity in indians would surely allow new budding competitors but a tactical & swift move can give any business a first mover advantage. Take the example of DIY kids educational playsets . Take the example of new sport and games clubs. Take the example of ready to heat & eat DIY foreign cuisines . There's so much to tap into and a growing domestic market which can make any good business a success (if executed well). Don't start a business exclusive or majority for export markets Win at home first and wait for the right time to diverse a bit into the export market.
