Indian banks had a strong run in FY25 with profits touching new highs public sector banks made over 1.78 lakh crore in profits and SBI alone made up nearly 40% of that. But things are starting to slow down loan growth was the weakest in four years and deposit growth also lost pace most banks are now feeling the pressure of rising deposit costs which is beginning to affect their profit margins. The results for the first quarter of FY26 are already showing signs of this shift while profits are still decent the growth isn't as strong as before.
