Yupp for sure! Giving ₹20,000 subscription to millions of users is not a joke. There's surely some very big reason to do that. But still, I did my calculations and it seems that it's not gonna be that expensive for both the companies and here's why. So Airtel has 390M user, out of which at max 20M users (5%) will claim the Pro plan. Now while it may look like the total costing would be about $4 Billion (20M × $200), it will be not. That's because out of those 20M users, around 200k (1%) will be the actual power users making the full use of their subscription. Rest just claimed the sub just because it's free and they would use it as much as a Free users. So it's fair to assume the cost to maintain those 99% users is basically "0" as they're as good as a Free tier user. Thus the actual cost will be $40 Million (200k × $200) which too will be split between Perplexity and Airtel. So $20M each, and for that much spends Perplexity Gained/Retained 20M users while Airtel users too got a reason to stay with Airtel. I hope my calculations make sense and if there's any mistakes, please lemme know. Nonetheless, I have claimed both Perplexity's as well as Google's Pro subscription. Kuch hua to dekhenge :P
