First ever port visit – kya din tha yaar 😮💨 (1st July, 2025) 1st July was a different kind of day. Got to go on-field for the first time to Hazira Port. Until now, my work was all desk-based – calls, WhatsApp, emails, etc. But this was my first real experience seeing what actually happens on ground. We had a shipment of hazardous cargo in drums coming from Rajasthan. It was important, so even the customer decided to come down personally to the port. Funny thing – the truck, customer, and we all reached at almost the same time 😅 First task: find an empty container. Sounds simple, but when you actually see one of those huge machines lifting containers like toys, it hits you – bro this is real. This cargo is actually going across oceans. Then came stuffing. Now this part was the actual test of patience. Labour was super late. And when they did arrive, only TWO guys came to handle those heavy drums. We were shocked. The process took way longer – palletizing, lashing, choking – everything was moving slow. Meanwhile, the truck driver was super chill, didn’t complain even once. But the transport head (since I was the one who arranged the truck) kept calling me non-stop: “Truck kab free hoga?”, “Kitna time lagega?” And there I was, trying to answer with a mix of confidence, lies, and last-minute jugaad 😅 “Sir just 30 mins more,” “Bas ho raha hai,” “Thoda delay hai sir, sorry”. After all the chaos, the container was finally stuffed properly. Doors closed, agent + customs seal done, and ready to go. And that’s when it hit me – this container I just saw getting loaded is going to another country. Felt different. Felt cool. We actually had plans to explore the full Hazira Port but bhai, saara time stuffing ne le liya. Standing for hours, coordinating, taking calls – it was exhausting. But so worth it. One day on ground and I learnt more than weeks in the office. The amount of respect I have now for the guys working on field – drivers, labourers, loaders – has gone up massively. This was my first ever field adventure in logistics, and it only made me love this industry more. Will 100% be back soon to explore the rest of the port, this was just the beginning. 🌊📦🔥
