If companies can take back offers or delay joining dates without having a second thought, why can’t the employees? 👀 Srijan R Shetty, co-founder of Fuze, recently shared his disappointment on X after an engineer backed out a day before joining, citing a better offer and personal reasons. Here’s what Shetty wrote to the candidate: “You’re free to shop for offers in the market, it’s a free market after all. But you could have come back to us and we would have been happy to have a chat about the new offer that you have. I hope you do not do the same with any other company and choose to prefer and open communication instead.” Fair point on transparency. But here’s a thought: - Ever heard of companies pulling back offers last minute? - Or changing JD post-selection? - Or ghosting after 5 rounds of interviews? If companies can be “flexible” with commitment, shouldn’t employees have the same wiggle room? It’s a free market after all, right? 😉
