Started from a village shed in Andhra Pradesh and built a 67,500 CR company. 1. Born in the Dokiparru village of the Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh, Pamireddy Pitchi (PP) Reddy was the fifth child of a farming family. He used to see his father in the fields all day, struggling with proper irrigation and wasting half of his crop, and wanted to solve the problem. 🤔 2. He wanted to supply pipes and pumps for local water projects. In 1989, with a modest loan of Rs 5 lakh and two employees in a tin shed in Balanagar (Hyderabad), he started a company. Megha Engineering Enterprises was born. 🚀 3. He started by constructing small pipes for municipalities. After two years of not receiving orders, he continued to work hard. And finally, he received the order for 10 HP- water pump motors. But he knew that working with large orders and municipalities would take time. He had to pivot. 👇🏻 4. In 1991, his nephew (P.V. Krishna Reddy) joined him, and he reinvested his savings to pivot to small irrigation and drinking water schemes, roads, and pumps for local governments. Within 15 years, Megha had generated ₹1000 crore in revenue, but Pamireddy saw the bigger picture. 😇 5. In 2006, it rebranded as Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL). It evolved into full-scale Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts, covering dams, canals, lift-irrigation systems, power plants, and transmission lines. And magic happened. 🪄 6. By 2016, it got the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project in Telangana, which was the world’s largest lift irrigation system and the Polavram Irrigation Project in 2018 to build earth-cum-rock fill dam and extensive canal systems. In 2015, it also expanded into city gas with Megha Gas and electric mobility with Electra. 🙌 7. Not just in India, MEIL was executing projects in countries such as Jordan, Kuwait, and Tanzania, transforming into a diversified conglomerate with 40,000 employees and revenues of 19,550 CR by 2020. That same year, it also acquired Drillmec, the oil and gas division of the Italian-listed firm Trevi Group, for 966 CR. 💰 8. MEIL continued to execute projects, including the Zojila Tunnel (2020), the BKC bullet train station (2022), and the Nagpur-Hyderabad gas pipeline. As it built the 1,500 MW NP Kunta substation in Andhra Pradesh in just 173 days, it entered the Limca Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records. 💪 9. Today, MEIL operates across sanitation, hydrocarbons, and drinking water, with over 100 projects in India, Jordan, Tanzania, Zambia, and Kuwait. It is worth 67,500 CR. 📈 ➡️Padma Shri PP Reddy is worth 37,300 CR but still provides clean water and irrigation for free in his native village of Dokiparru. 🙏
