you haven’t known real pain… until you’ve dealt with timezones in production. on paper, it sounds simple: "just store the time." in reality? ⏰ server time ≠ user time ⏰ user A in India, user B in New York — same event, different clocks ⏰ daylight saving throws your entire logic off ⏰ scheduled tasks fire at the wrong time ⏰ “midnight” becomes a guessing game if you’re building anything time-sensitive: ✅ always store time in UTC ✅ convert to local time only when displaying to users ✅ clearly label times with the timezone (don’t just say “12 PM”) ✅ use reliable libraries (date-fns, luxon, moment-timezone) ✅ test with multiple timezones — especially for reminders, reports, and cron jobs because nothing says “broken product” like a birthday email that arrives… tomorrow.
