Why Does Europe Tether Bottle Caps — and India Doesn’t? . Recently when I visited part of Europe, I saw they have tethered caps (caps attached to the neck) for most of the bottles. But in India and many other countries, caps go flying off and get thrown anywhere. Why is that? Why can't we adapt European idea ? What Are Tethered Caps? 🚫 Designed to stay attached to the bottle ♻️ Makes recycling easier 🌍 Reduces plastic waste 🧑⚖️ Made mandatory by EU law since July 2024 for all single-use plastic bottles. Why can't India regulate it ? Why it doesn't do ? 1. No legal push for such design 2. Low awareness of recycling 3. Cost-cutting on manufacturing 4. “Use & throw” mindset 5. Brands here focus on volume, not circular design. The Main and Bigger Problem This isn’t just about bottles. It’s about how regulation, behavior, and business priorities shape the future. India waits for laws. Europe designs for impact. This might be an good idea too. Message for founders and builders in this sector. You don’t need to wait for policy. ✅ Build products with sustainability in mind ✅ Push behavior change ✅ Design for better habits, not just cheaper costs Should India adopt this? Should world adopt this ? I have seen many things which aren't general in India but it is Europe i will be talking about that in next upcoming posts Image to left is : Tethered caps Image to right is : Normal caps *This Post adhers to all community guidelines* *The image used below is sourced by web* * The content is based on personal experience and also personal search on web*
