Just built an Android app called Abhaya - it's an SOS emergency alert system designed mainly for women's safety Features include regular & anonymous SOS alerts, live location tracking (even in background), emergency contact management, FCM push notifications, and a crime heatmap based on past data. Used Kotlin & Jetpack Compose with Firebase and Retrofit for the backend integration. Also added Accessibility Services to let users send alerts without even opening the app. Planning to add a voice trigger and SMS integration next. The UI is a not very user friendly but this project helped me grow a lot as an Android Developer and I got to learn more about how WEbViews work, how FCM notifications are triggered and how notifications are created in the background by the app. Also got to learn about a new feature called Accessibility Services in Android (Wrote a blog about it too)!!
