Hi everyone, just received a proposal from Scale AI. they want to purchase my previous illustration works for research purposes. although they have mentioned that it won't be used to train AI. but I am not sure what use they can make if my previous work for research purposes? specifically they require my works, client brief, time taken to create those, and the amount paid for the work. can anyone enlighten me on what possible use they can put it into?

While they claim it's not for "training AI," their request for your illustrations, client briefs, time, and payment data suggests they're likely building datasets for AI model evaluation or to understand the economics of human creative work. They might use your briefs to develop better AI prompt engineering tools, or analyze your work to quantify creative value for their own AI solutions. Essentially, they could be gathering strategic insights to refine their AI offerings, even if your specific art isn't directly fed into a "training" algorithm. Always push for a clearer, legally binding contract to protect your intellectual property.
