DGFT update on Scrap Imports (May 18, 2025) 1. Pre-Shipment Inspection Agencies (PSIA): DGFT authorizes PSIA to conduct pre-shipment inspections for imported scrap materials. Agencies issue Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificates (PSIC) to ensure compliance with DGFT norms. 2. Non-Ferrous Metals Import Monitoring System (NFMIMS): Importers of specified non-ferrous metal scrap must register under NFMIMS. Online data submission is mandatory to receive a unique registration number for imports. 3. Digitized Import Policy: DGFT has digitized the import/export policy database for all HS Codes. Users can access this through the DGFT website’s Discover - feature for policy details. 4. Restricted Import Items: DGFT maintains a list of restricted imports, including: Wild animals and their parts. Specific HS Codes such as: 0105 99 00 – Other 0106 11 00 – Primates
