Trump just gifted Indian solar module exporters a crazy big win, and yet nobody’s talking about it 🙏🙏 The US has imposed duties up to 3,521% on imports from Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand - nations that supplied 77% of America’s solar modules in 2024. Mind it - Three Thousand Five Hundred Twenty One Per Cent! An outcome of a year-long probe exposing unfair subsidies and dumping, this is above and beyond the reciprocal tariffs (presently capped at 10% for 90 days). - And this is a game-changer for Indian solar giants like Adani Solar, Waaree Energies, and Premier Energies (last two listed) - While growing massively due to exports to the US, those Indian companies have remained small players in the overall US markets But now, with many of the competitors out of the game, Indian players have a massive opportunity. .. See, the US solar market is red-hot, adding 50 GW of capacity in 2024, a 21% leap from 2023, with total capacity at 237.5 GW. And those four South East Asian nations sent $12.9 billion in solar panel exports? But now, Cambodia faces 3,521%, Vietnam 395.9%, Thailand 375.2%, and Malaysia 34.4% tariffs. Meanwhile, India, which shipped $1.8 billion in modules to the U.S. last year (a 23-fold surge since 2022), faces no such barriers. .. Also, as per brokerage reports, Indian manufacturers earn a 72% return on capital in the US markets versus 22-28% domestically. And with India’s solar capacity is skyrocketing, set to reach 150 GW in modules and 75 GW in cells by 2026, we are well placed to meet the US demand. Furthermore, with Southeast Asian rivals priced out, they can possibly charge premium rates. Did you know all of this?
