Imagine you're traveling to Switzerland and you spot Elon Musk right there. Excited, you want to video call your brother to show him, but there's a problem! Your SIM card doesn't support roaming in Switzerland. Ahmet, Abraham and Duran were frustrated by this, so they decided to solve it. They noticed that eSIMs were becoming a big thing. Thus with $1.9 million in seed funding from Antler and Sequoia, they launched Airalo in 2019. Airalo partnered with dozens of SIM providers globally, allowing users to easily get internet access easily. The process was simple: 1) Download the Airalo app. 2) Select the country you're visiting and choose a plan. 3) Complete payment and follow easy setup instructions. It became an instant hit. However, the next year COVID hit, and travel stopped. Airalo faced challenges, but post covid, Tourism Industry Pumped and so did Airalo’s growth. With a fresh $5.4 million Series A funding, they expanded to even more countries and soon crossed 1 million users. Today, Airalo is the world's biggest eSIM marketplace, serving over 10 million users across 200+ countries and regions.
