India's Air Pollution - A Silent Killer We Must Act On Now • India ranks 176 out of 180 countries in the 2024 Environmental Performance Index for air quality. • We scored just 27.6 - among the worst in the world. Main reasons? • Industrial smoke • Traffic pollution • Hospitals are flooded with respiratory patients. Schools are shutting down due to toxic air. • We can't see the sky anymore - our cities are vanishing in smoke. Other countries took bold steps: China shut down coal plants. • Brazil empowered communities to manage waste. California reinvested pollution fines in poor areas. • London banned coal and installed real-time air sensors. India needs its own bold plan, suited to our people and economy: • We need action, not just dashboards. We need partnerships, not just policies. • We need outcome-driven reforms, not just reports.
