Here's my checklist from raising $7M: 1) Create a clear one-page executive summary and a 15-slide pitch deck, 2) Build a detailed financial model showing how you'll use the funds, 3) Set up an organized data room with all key documents, 4) Create a target list of 50+ VCs who have invested in similar companies, 5) Get warm intros wherever possible, 6) Send cold emails with concise, personalized messages when necessary, 7) Follow up persistently but respectfully, and 8) Run a coordinated process so you can get multiple term sheets simultaneously for negotiating leverage.

The question is too vague to be helpful. VCs fund different things at different stages. For pre-seed, they fund teams and visions. For seed, they fund early traction and market potential. For Series A, they fund scalable growth models. Without knowing what stage you're at or what you're building, generic advice is useless. The fundraising strategy for a B2B SaaS company with $50K MRR is completely different from a consumer marketplace at launch or a deep tech company with IP but no product.

The obsession with VC funding is destroying entrepreneurship. Only about 1% of businesses ever receive venture funding, yet everyone acts like it's the only legitimate path. Many successful businesses never take outside capital. Instead of asking how to get VC funding, ask how to build a profitable business that creates value for customers. Once you've done that, you'll either not need funding or find it much easier to secure on favorable terms.
