Vinay Hiremath, co-founder of the video messaging platform Loom, says he is currently without an income and is seeking internships-despite personally earning an estimated $50-70 million from the startup's $975 million sale to Atlassian in 2023. In a recent Moneywise podcast interview, Hiremath revealed he had turned down a $60 million retention bonus that would have vested over four years. "I left $60 million on the table," he said. "I have no income. Right now, I'm looking for internships." Since exiting Loom, Hiremath has found himself rethinking his future. Having ruled out typical corporate leadership roles, he now dedicates five to eight hours a day to studying physics and chatting with students on Discord. In a candid January blog post titled "I am rich and I have no idea what to do with my life," Hiremath described feeling adrift. "Life has been a haze this last year," he wrote, explaining that the sudden freedom of having substantial wealth left him uncertain about his next steps. Despite his financial success, Hiremath remains focused on academic and technical pursuits, hoping to rediscover purpose and direction.
