The CEO of 01.AI, Lee Kai-fu, recently shared some exciting news about the progress of Chinese AI startups. He highlighted that companies like DeepSeek have managed to close the gap with the U.S. in AI development, bringing it down to just three months in certain fields. "I used to think we were lagging behind by six to nine months across the board," he remarked. To put things in perspective, DeepSeek, a China-based firm, rolled out an AI model back in January, and they pulled it off with a budget of under $6 million. Pretty impressive, right?
