Last weekend, I was on a trip with my friends and, as usual, we ended up talking about bikes, especially electric ones. We were discussing how some brands are losing sales while others are growing. And then there is Ultraviolette bringing in new models that got everyone talking. After reaching home, I thought, let’s check the numbers and see what is really happening. Here is what I found. - Bajaj Chetak: 21,389 units sold in Feb 2025, an 81% increase from last year. - TVS iQube: 18,762 units sold, growing 28% year on year. - Ather Energy: 11,807 units sold, a 29% increase. - Ola Electric: 8,647 units sold, a massive 74% drop from last year. Even though some brands are doing well, the overall electric two-wheeler market actually dropped by 8% in Feb 2025 compared to last year. Some brands are figuring it out while others are struggling to keep up. And then there’s Ultraviolette. They are not just making electric bikes, they are focusing on performance. In Feb, they launched the F77 SuperStreet, a sportier version of their flagship bike priced at ₹2.99 lakh. They also entered the electric scooter market with the Tesseract, which comes in three variants with ranges of 162 km, 220 km, and 261 km. And on top of that, they launched Shockwave, India's first road-legal electric dual-sport bike. The market is shifting fast. People are picking brands that give them the right mix of price, performance, and trust. What do you think? Is the EV market still figuring things out or are we seeing real growth?
