Most people use ride-hailing apps like Ola, Uber, and Rapido for their convenience and affordability. However, some still prefer hiring cabs from private travel agents despite ride-hailing apps often offering lower fares. When we conducted research, we found that these ride-hailing platforms operate with independent contractors who work at their discretion. As a result, there is no guarantee of service quality. Being in the cab business for a long time, I identified additional problems: Customers don’t get real-time images of the cab they are booking. People often assume they will get a specific sedan (like a Dzire), but a different vehicle arrives instead.
