Humane AI Pin failed. Rabbit R1 failed. The Metaverse hasn’t completely failed, but it's already off to a rocky start. Does that mean AI and AR/VR experiences are a fad? Absolutely not. AI-powered devices will dominate the market in the coming years. The success of Meta’s smart glasses is proof of that. The reason these kinds of startups fail is because they’re often responsible for creating an entirely new category—and they rush the release. Take Facebook’s transition into Meta, for example. Society wasn’t ready for it. Mark Zuckerberg was trying to implement an immediate social shift when no one was prepared for it. If you're building a company that’s introducing a brand-new category, you need to ensure people gradually get used to your product. You can’t just drop something revolutionary and expect users to adapt overnight—it doesn’t work that way. Instead, you need to slowly tease your product, create anticipation, and market it strategically before launching. And when you do release it, make sure it’s solid. Your product needs to be stable, polished, and have an audience that’s already primed for it.
