Long time no see, medialers :). The past 3 weeks have been pretty hectic for me due to Valentine’s Day campaigns, but I'll be active again starting today. Imagine giving a shop owner two options: - A guaranteed 50 customers, or - 5000 visitors to his shop. Which would he choose? He’d likely choose 5000 visitors because there's a higher chance he can make more than 50 sales. Many would opt for that. But in SEO, it works quite the opposite - more visitors to your website don’t guarantee more conversions. First, Let's see how a website receives more traffic. If a website receives most of the traffic from short-tail keywords (queries containing only 1–2 words), it receives high traffic because those are the phrases most people search for. For example, let’s say you run a clothing brand and optimize your polo t-shirts page for the query “Polo T-Shirts.” In that single query, there will be: - A person looking for custom polo t-shirts. - A person looking to buy polo t-shirts offline. - A person researching the materials used in polo t-shirts. - A person looking for customized polo t-shirts. - A person looking to buy polo t-shirts online. While your ideal audience is the one looking to buy polo t-shirts online, other users with different intents might also visit your site. As a result, visitors who aren’t your target audience might leave immediately because the page doesn’t answer their needs. This increases your website’s bounce rate - a major SEO issue. Now you can see how more visitors don’t guarantee more conversions. So, how do you tackle this? Identify your ideal customer's search phrases. Analyze what they would search for. For example, if your customer is looking to order polo t-shirts in bulk, the search phrases might be: Bulk polo shirts online Bulk polo t-shirts buy Bulk polo t-shirts rate Polo t-shirts bulk order online And optimize for these search phrases. The traffic might be lower, but it’s more likely to convert. Always prioritize intent over volume. A smaller, well-targeted audience will always bring better results than a large, unfocused one.
