David Karp, born in 1986 in New York City, is an American entrepreneur best known for founding Tumblr in 2007. A programming enthusiast from a young age, he dropped out of Bronx Science High School at 15 to pursue tech internships and consulting work. Tumblr quickly gained popularity and was acquired by Yahoo for $1.1 billion in 2013. Karp remained CEO until 2017 but has kept a low profile since leaving the company. Julian Assange, born in 1971 in Townsville, Australia, is a journalist and activist best known for founding WikiLeaks in 2006. A self-taught hacker under the alias "Mendax," he briefly studied mathematics and physics at the University of Melbourne before dropping out over ethical concerns. WikiLeaks gained global attention in 2010 for publishing classified U.S. documents, sparking both praise for transparency and criticism for endangering security. Assange was arrested in 2019 after spending seven years in the Ecuadorian embassy in London to avoid extradition.
