The Indian government is set to launch annual and lifetime toll passes for private cars, priced at ₹3,000 and ₹30,000 for 15 years, enabling unlimited national highway travel. Linked to FASTag, this initiative will streamline toll payments, reduce congestion, and eliminate stoppages. Currently, private vehicles make up 60% of highway traffic but generate just 20-26% of toll revenue. The plan is part of a larger effort to modernize toll collection, with GNSS-based tolling in the pipeline.
