Open Thoughts about OpenAI So Ever Since OpenAI announced its plan to go for-profit, everyone, including Elon Musk, has been trolling OpenAI by calling it "CloseAI." While thatās kinda true, I think OpenAI turning for-profit isnāt a big deal and was bound to happen. Firstly OpenAI was founded in 2015 with the mission that AGI benefits everyone. In 2019, It was estimated that it will take 80 years for AGI to be built but now thanks to OpenAi, it's estimated to be built in just 8 years. So raising billions and turning for profit is not at all an issue Secondly, while a normal company announces one or two cool new products in a year, OpenAI, on the other hand, has launched 4o, o1, o3, Sora, Agents, and Operators in just one year. And this doesnt includes minor features like Search, Deep Research, etc. Meanwhile, other companies like Google, Meta, etc., have also introduced their Gen AI and video models, but they were made out of force, not choiceāthatās why they are bad. DeepSeek is great, no doubt, but itās still just one of the companies that compete with OpenAI when it comes to quality. Thirdly, OpenAI has raised over $17.9 billion, so thereās no way it wouldnāt eventually change to a for-profit model. Thus, call it OpenAI, CloseAI, or MangoAI, itās definitely the best startup of this decade & No matter how much you troll it, its impact canāt be denied.
