Many startups offer equity in place of a competitive salary. But how many of those equity offers actually pay off?
Is it smarter to take a low salary with high equity or a high salary with no ownership?

It depends on the company & what you want, but if you're too young I better suggest to go with a low salary with high equity in the long run it will definitely help.

Yesterday my college friend approached me for his business idea, we discussed it and I asked for 10% of equity + 5k salary/per month.
after negotiation we finalized on 7.5% and 5k as a salary.
I'll be handling all the tech for his idea
