no. that's not always the case. The valuation is based on current market conditions. So if today a new cartoon starts, then it's merch won't be that popular. But if it turns out to be very successful like hagemaru, then it merch, toys and trading cards would become very popular. same is the case with company.. Investors invest in a company based on its current value derived from its Revenue, popularity and how big it could get. in future it's valuation can increase or can be sold for higher amount as well as vice versa based on future conditions
