I’ve been working in the UK for the past nine years, changing four companies during this time. Not once have I felt overwhelmed by work pressure. My day starts at 9 AM and ends at 5:30 PM, Monday to Saturday. On the rare occasions I worked overtime, my manager would actually tell me, “Why are Indian employees here working late? Is it a cultural thing in India? You don’t need to stay even a minute after work hours.” If I stayed late, they’d remind me, “You need to balance your work and personal life. Work is just work, and you have a life outside of it too.” This mindset made me love going to work. I loved my job because the culture respected my effort. But back in India, I used to work from 9 AM to 7 PM, often without any extra pay or appreciation. To all the founders and future leaders reading this: Respect your employees’ time. Don’t make them stay late unnecessarily. Let them have a proper work-life balance. Trust me, when you value your employees, they’ll always give their best.
