"The Road Not Taken" is a poem by Robert Frost that argues for the importance of our choices, both big and small, since they shape our journey through life. The poem depicts the agony of decision making and the rewards of forging your own path. The subject of the poem is faced with a decision of taking the "safe" route that others have taken before or breaking new ground. Robert Frost says that he took the "road less traveled by, and that has made all the difference". A strategy is a journey, not the end-result. And, it’s the road less taken. A strategy is built around three different sets of ‘things’ – 1. The company – comprising of the components - the brand, the people and the offering and the system that connects all of them; 2. The Prospects – comprising of the buyers, the influencers and the users; and 3. External environment – comprising of the competitors and the market dynamics. How these three different sets of things work together or are at inter-play with each other, and how you can address them uniquely, is what drives the strategy to achieve your dream end-result.
