How Two College Friends Built the Largest Interior Company in India So Livspace was founded by Anuj and Ramakant, both alumni of IIT Kanpur. After spending years working at MNCs like Google, it was finally time for them to design their own homes. However, they encountered several problems in the market: 1. Hiring an interior designer was very expensive. 2. Local carpenters lacked quality. 3. The market was highly unorganized, making it difficult to find affordable and transparent pricing. This led them to start Livspace in 2014, aiming to simplify home design for homeowners. Livspace effectively addresses these challenges by offering comprehensive home design services, from interior planning to manufacturing furniture. They provide personalized designs, high-quality products, and affordable pricing. As a result, Livspace rapidly expanded from having one store in 2014 to over seven stores within two years. In 2017, they were recognized as the 'World’s Most Innovative Company' by Fast Company. By 2021, Livspace had designed over 25,000 homes and achieved unicorn status the following year. Today, Livspace is the largest interior design company in India, generating $148 million in revenue and holding a 70% market share.
