There is an ongoing debate about whether Bengaluru or Gurugram holds the title of the top startup hub in India. However, when considering states, Karnataka stands out as a prominent player, ranking third in the country for the number of startups. In recent years, Karnataka has witnessed a significant increase in the number of startups, reflecting its growing prominence as a leading hub for entrepreneurial ventures in India. In 2022, Karnataka reported 2,568 startups, positioning it as the third-highest in the country behind Delhi and Maharashtra. By 2023, this number had surged to 3,036 maintaining its position as the third-highest. This increase represents a remarkable growth of approximately 18.2% year-over-year in Karnataka’s startup landscape. Comparatively, other major states have also seen substantial growth. For instance, Maharashtra, leading the startup race, grew from 4,813 startups in 2022 to 5,816 in 2023, marking an increase of about 20.8%.
