Here’s what I’ve learned from my journey: . • 🧩 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴: Engineering involves design, vision, and understanding customer needs. You don’t need to code to see the bigger picture. • 📈 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: Use your management experience to organize teams, set realistic goals, and avoid common pitfalls like unrealistic deadlines. • ❓ 𝗔𝘀𝗸 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Not being a tech expert lets you ask all kinds of questions. This helps you learn and gives engineers a chance to teach, balancing the relationship. • 💡 𝗙𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝘀: Use your strengths to support the team, like aligning technical goals with company objectives. • 🔄 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘃𝘀. 𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹: Technical knowledge is something you build, not something you either have or don’t. Everyone can contribute to solving problems in different ways. • 🏢 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗙𝗶𝘁: Look for companies that value management skills and have clear tracks for managers and individual contributors. 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝗻-𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀: 📚 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀: Understand basic technical concepts to have meaningful conversations with your team. 🤝 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀: Develop strong partnerships with your tech leads and trust their expertise. 🗣 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆: Be clear about goals, deadlines, and expectations. 🔍 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀: Keep learning and asking questions to improve your understanding and support your team better. Leading engineers without coding skills can be a great asset. It allows you to bring fresh perspectives and build strong, effective teams. 🌟
