Vitalik invented programmable blockchain. Solidity was his invention. When bitcoin did simple logic like Buy and Sell transactions, Eth provided highly advanced programs inside blockchain. They also became layer 1 for most other blockchains. NFTs wudnt exist if Eth didnt provide programmable protocols for that
