𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗜-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝘀: AI-based phishing is an emerging cyber threat leveraging machine learning to craft realistic, personalized phishing attacks that bypass traditional defenses. By analyzing language patterns and user data, AI can create highly convincing messages, making detection challenging. A prime example is the CEO impersonation attack on a UK energy firm, where cybercriminals used AI to mimic the CEO’s voice, successfully convincing an employee to transfer €220k to a fake supplier. Such attacks tend to increase during festive seasons, as cybercriminals exploit the high volume of communications and transactions. AI's role in phishing amplifies three key tactics: - Scaling personalized messages - Automating campaigns, - Using deepfakes for voice phishing. To counter these, adopt proactive AI-based defenses & train employees in recognizing AI-driven phishing, staying prepared for these evolving tactics.
