I think what matters more is understanding local market nuances. I mean, in the west greeting someone you have seen before somewhere like a cafe or something or someone you see regularly is a sign of respect but here if you do it, people find it creepy. So...not saying anything negative or dismissive, just saying ki you better choose the right market and test things out before diving in head first.
