With OpenAi's o1 having an estimated IQ of 120, AI has clearly started to 'reason', which has been an important attribute to measure intelligence among humans throughout history. Now as AI progress continues, it would easily outperform many of us even among other attributes. So in the future, what would make us truly 'human'? Would we require new measures of intelligence? How do you envision one's self image as a human?

well ray kurzwail talks about singularity where the ai would surpass the human level intelligence at one point in time. Same is talked about Suleman Mustafa in his book the coming wave. So in future the only thing that'll make us humans is our human way of doing things uniquely, or our unique ideas. Let's see it as the development that we've achieved and we'll adopt and change accordingly as time passes.

I think, honestly this whole AI surpassing humans in reasoning doesn’t necessarily mean we need to redefine humanity. Intelligence is multifaceted, and there's no reason to assume that human worth hinges on intellectual ability alone

"Humans will probably have to redefine what intelligence even means. Maybe it’s not just about IQ or logical reasoning anymore. Maybe it’s about creativity, emotional depth, empathy, and the ability to laugh at stupid WhatsApp forwards. AI won’t get sarcasm the way we do.
