Is that data structures is essentially required to be an Ml engineer in 2024 ?

I mean knowing data structure algorithm will help you build more efficient and scalable algortihms on which the LLM and AI systems are based on so yeah. Sounds like a no brainer, like asking if math is needed to be a good data analyst/scientist/AI engineer.
