I don't think the medial journey is so profitable yet. I have noticed this from personal experience for a few weeks. When the medial started a lot of people were interested in joining it, but Now I am not seeing any new active users

medial is currently building audience by inviting people to use the app, once the user base get big , it will work same as twitter, they will earn from ads revenue. This is my thought on it
