On August 27th, SpaceX Will Launch the Polaris Dawn Mission - The First Spacewalk Beyond Low Earth Orbit Since the Apollo Program ๐Ÿš€ The spacecraft is set to reach an altitude of 1,400 kilometers (compared to the ISS at 400 kilometers). What's even more daunting is that it will pass through the Earth's radiation belts, which will be studied during the mission. The crew will also test SpaceX's sleek spacesuits, which are designed without a traditional backpackโ€”everything necessary will be supplied directly from the spacecraft via a tether. If successful, Elon Musk will be the first since the Space Race to send humans beyond low Earth orbit. ๐ŸŒŒ
