The nation roared in outrage over Nirbhaya because she was seen as the embodiment of the Indian woman. Yet today, as the nation celebrates Independence Day, people are more preoccupied with trivial distractions like a film release. Life carries on as though nothing significant has occurred. When a girl is raped, it's deemed a 'national crisis,' but when a doctor—one of our own healers—is raped and murdered, it's relegated to a 'personal issue.' Where is the outcry? Where is the justice? This stark hypocrisy must not be ignored. Doctors, it is clear—if you do not stand up for yourselves, no one else will .
