Hindi of today is more of a mixture of Sanskrit and Urdu and few others, Tamil's 40 persent words are from Sanskrit, I speak kannada and most of it is Sanskrit as well, it's not like it died out it's just with time and place it changed like latin and English. But it still lives at the intellectual and more higher studies
