3am post:- You can't build a great product based on the reviews of customer's about the problem. Why?? There's a type of survey called open ended survey, where there's a question and the respondent is asked to answer in his own words. But the problem is, when it's finally time to quantify the data, you wouldn't get a certain answer and whatever you'd get would be subjective, unlike close ended survey. Going on with the same analogy, you wouldn't be able to quantify what are the real problems in the industry, because customers themselves wouldn't know what's wrong and whatever you'd get would be highly intrinsic/subjective. The solution, is knowing how the industry works and what are the points where you can help people conserve more of their mental or physical energy by doing a innovation ( because that's the ultimate want) if the industry already exists. Basically building on the attributes of the product from a industry. Btw there can never be a one liner definition.
