AGI seems a distant dream right now. If you understand how AI actually works you'll understand that "AI" we use isn't really thinking but just opening a huge encyclopedia and predicting what next word should be... That's exactly why it sometimes also hallucinates because of conflicts in the said encyclopedia. Now making the AI to think on its own and manufacture thoughts? That will be tricky as per my current understanding.
