Amazon: The company which changed how Startups operate! So, Amazon wasn't the first company which operated as a Typical Startup but it was actually the first one to do it at huge scale. Just look at the revenue and profit figures REV LOSS 1996: $16m $6m 1997: $148m $32m 1998: $610m $126m 1999: $1640m $835m So jeff was also asked about this in an interview with Jay Leno in 1999. When Jay asked Jeff about the company's losses, everyone including Jeff and Jay were laughing at Amazon's financials. So to this Jeff said that 'it's not a new phenomena', 'We are investing in the future', 'What's suprising is the scale at which amazon is doing this. We are doing this at a massive scale' So that's why Amazon is probably the startup responsible for how the startups operates today. Anyways, the real question now is that Who is Laughing at Amazon's Financials Today?
