I can see the point the former Googler is making. There does seem to be a bit of an "AI frenzy" going on right now with companies scrambling to slap the AI label on products and services. However, I'd push back on characterizing Google's efforts as "poorly motivated." They've been investing heavily in AI/ML research and applications for years now.
