OpenAI claims that its free GPT-4o model can talk, laugh, sing and see like a human OpenAI's new AI, GPT-4o, promises a revolution in how we talk to computers. Unlike older models, GPT-4o understands text, voice, and pictures, using them all to answer you. It even grasps emotions and lets you interrupt too. OpenAI's CTO, Mira Murati, highlighted that GPT-4o brings "powerful AI" to everyone, even free users. This ease of use is a major breakthrough. Demos showed GPT-4o translating languages live, solving math problems on the spot, and guiding someone through breathing exercises based on their voice. The "o" in GPT-4o stands for "omni," reflecting its ability to handle many formats. Unlike earlier models that needed speech-to-text conversion, GPT-4o uses one system for all inputs, keeping emotions and speeding things up. OpenAI will release GPT-4o to free users and a desktop version of ChatGPT (for Mac) for paying users in a few weeks.
