If independent creators on platforms like YouTube and Substack can build loyal followings and generate significant income directly from their audience, why are established media companies struggling to retain viewers and subscribers despite vast resources? Is there a disconnect between the content these companies produce and what audiences truly value? Or are there deeper issues with traditional media distribution models that make it difficult to compete with the direct creator-to-fan relationship?
